To Be Guarded or To Be Open?

That is the question...

When you've kept your heart locked up behind 2 foot thick walls and a steel door for the majority of your life, and then you finally open it and let someone in... the joy is overwhelming. It's kind of the best feeling ever. That person becomes the very reason you live and breathe. You are consumed in love and hope for the future.

On the other hand, an unprotected heart feels the sting of hurt emotion a million times stronger than you can ever imagine. Definitely not the best feeling ever. Each hurt cuts deeper and the scars last longer. Until you wonder if you are any good for anyone.

So yeah, you are damned if you do and damned if you don't. It's a tough decision to make. Would you be happy locked away behind that steel door, never feeling anything? Or, would you rather have the mixture of joy & pain? Which scenario is survivable?

  1. No perfect answer...
Both ways of living have their good and bad points.
Wishing you peace and serenity, even if only possible for fleeting moments.

  2. A tough questions, and both answers do make sense. Opening yourself up is a huge risk. I know that I tend to keep walls up and I let very few people in.
